I Still Miss Someone

about

I love how Johnny Cash can make you feel so lonesome with a song, and feel so sorry for him, but the song isn't super depressing feeling. Sort of bouncy. This dude spun complicated, emotionally dense songs at a time that Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, and others were sticking to the tracks a bit closer. Only other person IMO that had the same emotional depth and true human experience built into their songs was Roy Orbison.

lyrics

I Still Miss Someone - J. Cash

D G A
At my door the leaves are falling
G A D
a cold, wild wind has come
D G A
Sweethearts walk by together
G A D
And I still miss someone

I go out on a party
and look for a little fun
but I find a darkened corner
‘cuz I still miss someone

G A D
Well, I never got over those blue eyes
G A D
I see them everywhere
G A D
I miss those arms that held me
G A D
when all the love was there

I wonder if she’s sorry
for leaving what we’d begun
There’s someone for me somewhere
and I still miss someone
